Achlean to Ruigh-aiteachain Path
This path goes through the glorious Glen Feshie with views of Coire Garbhlach and Mullach Clach a Bhlair.
Setting out from the car park at Achlean (Auchlean on some maps) GR 851985, there is a short spell on the road before the start of the path proper signposted at the farm. From here the path goes due south for 5k crossing 2 burns. Both crossing can be significant at times of heavy rain or in spate conditions. The path is generally in good condition apart from erosion at the crossing of the Allt Garbhlach and also after about 3k where the path runs alongside the River Feshie. Here the path is narrow and has been undercut by the river. The path then continues through woodland to the newly renovated Ruigh-aiteachain Bothy.
This Bothy is a big draw for both walkers and cyclists. On the day of our recent visit we estimated that we met about 40 people enjoying the path. The rivers were in spate and we reckoned a good number of them were also enjoying wet feet!
